Carolina Classics at the Capital Revs up for More Excitement

See Hundreds of Classic Cars, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Munster Mobile & More

RALEIGH, NC, August 05, 2011 /Automotive PR News/ -- Last year, the first Carolina Classics at the Capital drew more than 25,000 attendees to downtown Raleigh to see 400-plus classic cars and top-of-the-line vendors. This year's show, scheduled for Aug. 19 through Aug. 21 in the Raleigh Convention Center and on historic Fayetteville Street, will include even more exciting features.

"By popular demand, this year's Classics at the Capital will feature more import and custom show cars," said Greg Cox, one of the event's organizers. "We're also adding a free cruise-in on Friday and block party options for car clubs. We really want this to be a great experience for exhibitors and attendees."

Newly added for 2011 are the following special attractions:
-- Aston Martin and Ferrari - presented by SLR Automotive
-- The Munster Mobile and Grandpa's Dragula from "The Munsters"
-- History of the Automobile (cars and paraphernalia from the 1910s to the present) - presented by Classic & Custom Cars in Lillington and American Classic Car Restoration in Fayetteville

Also new this year is a sneak peak/media day on Friday, featuring $5 admission to see the vehicles and vendors in the Convention Center. That night, classic car owners can turn back the clock and relive their cruising days with a free cruise-in and live entertainment from Pour Soul from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday's and Sunday's festivities will include hundreds of classic cars on display on Fayetteville Street, a free Kids Zone with inflatable attractions, more musical entertainment -- featuring Integrity, Big Jon DJ and the Will McBride Band -- and an indoor car showcase and vendor exhibits in the Raleigh Convention Center.

This year's vendors include Steele Rubber Products, Pypes Performance Exhausts, Hubbard's Impala Parts, Top Banana Parts, Northern Tool & Equipment, The Right Stuff Detailing, Hamlett's Chevy Parts, East Coast Classics, Southern Comfort Custom Interiors, the National Hot Rod Association (doing inspections) and more.

There is no charge for the public to view the outdoor portion of the car show, and admission to the indoor showcase is only $10. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Convention Center, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness.

The Carolina Classics at the Capital will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. A special awards ceremony will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. on the Fayetteville Street Stage, with awards for Top 50, Sweet 16, Best in Show in various categories, and the Sir Walter Raleigh Cup.
